Who we are

The Amy Robinson Foundation is a charitable trust which aims to improve the lives of young people and support families affected by child bereavement. It was founded in March 2022 after the sudden and unexplained death of Amy, who was just 3 years and 7 months old when she passed away. Amy is the much loved daughter of Laura and Kieran Robinson, the founders of the Amy Robinson Foundation, and younger sister to Ella.

Amy’s family established the Amy Robinson Foundation as a lasting legacy to Amy. The formal aims of the charitable trust are to support families affected by child bereavement through the provision of grants to individuals and charities who work in this field.

SUDC – Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood

SUDC is the sudden and unexpected death of a child aged between 1-18 years that remains unexplained after a thorough investigation. Around 40 children are affected every year in the UK.  The Amy Robinson Foundation raises awareness and funds for SUDC UK, a registered charity dedicated to increasing awareness of SUDC, supporting bereaved families and funding crucial research into the causes and prevention of SUDC. In 2024 the charity’s trustees attended a parliamentary reception on SUDC at the House of Commons to launch a national awareness day for SUDC and help bring about greater awareness and change for families.

SUDC UK has a number of resources to support families and professionals, including information on the association between febrile seizures and some children affected by SUDC. This is an area of medical research the Amy Robinson Foundation is passionate about supporting because Amy had a history of febrile seizures. For further information please see the SUDC UK website: https://sudc.org.uk/

Therapy grants

Getting the right professional support is essential in helping families cope following the loss of a child, however limited resources mean many bereaved parents and siblings have long waits before accessing bereavement support. The Amy Robinson Foundation is able to offer grants to bereaved families so that they can access therapy sooner, ensuring they are supported in their time of greatest need and in starting to rebuild their lives.
